Having spent time with the original Duramo Speed, which I truly found to be a great workhorse shoe for its value, I’m genuinely excited to dive into the Adidas Duramo Speed 2. This update seems to build on everything I appreciated about its predecessor, evolving it into an even more versatile and cushioned option that runners, like myself, will find useful for a wider range of efforts.

Adidas is positioning this as a light, fast, and responsive option, perfect for everything from a 10K race to hitting those consistent daily training goals, all while integrating some impressive sustainable practices.

What’s New & Noteworthy: My Thoughts on Its Shift Towards Versatility

Adidas’s marketing highlights the Duramo Speed 2 as a light and fast option, partly crafted with recycled materials (at least 20%, which is always good to see). But looking at the actual specs, I’m noticing some interesting shifts that confirm my suspicions about its role.

The Duramo Speed 2 has gained a slight 5 grams in sample size compared to the first version. While minor, this, combined with a significant jump in stack height, tells me there’s a deliberate evolution here. The midsole stack has really beefed up, going from 29mm in the heel and 23mm in the forefoot on the Duramo Speed 1, to a more generous 34.9mm heel and 28.4mm forefoot in the Duramo Speed 2. This means it’s going to feel taller and definitely more cushioned underfoot.

This increased cushioning and subtle weight bump strongly suggests that the Duramo Speed 2 is less of a pure speed-day shoe and more of a robust daily trainer. Honestly, I did not find the first version that much of a speed-day shoe either. I found the original most enjoyable on my longer runs, cruising at a comfortable, non-race pace. The Duramo Speed 2 seems poised to excel in that role perhaps becoming a go-to for short to medium-distance long runs.

I’m really pleased they’ve stuck with Lightstrike cushioning. It’s a foam I know and trust with its durability and reliably responsive. This will ensure that it doesn’t compromise on performance despite its enhanced cushioning.

Unchanged Value, Anticipated Availability

Perhaps the most exciting part for me is that the price remains unchanged. In a world where shoe prices just keep climbing, Adidas keeping this fantastic value proposition is something I truly commend. It solidifies the Duramo Speed 2’s position as an accessible yet high-performing option for everyday runners.

The Adidas Duramo Speed 2 officially landed in January 2025, with some colorways appearing as early as January 19, 2025. It’s currently available here in Singapore through various retailers like the Adidas Singapore official website, Zalora, and SportsDirect.com. Althought it was launched in January 2025, there has not been much fanfare or marketing that brings people’s attention to Duramo Speed 2. Quite a wasted opportunity.
