Anta PG 7 v3: The Stable Sofa Initial Review
Following our deep dive into high-performance tiers from Xtep 2000km 5.0 and Kiprun Kipride, we’ve finally secured the newest iteration of Anta’s cushion-first running shoes, the Anta PG 7 v3. We picked it up for RMB 399 (~S$75) during a recent trip to Shanghai. As of published date, we do not see this product available yet on the web.
This shoe represents another one of the Value Disruptors in the for 2026, especially the recovery category. While the market is currently obsessed with superfoams and carbon plates, Anta is doubling down on a different philosophy. One characterised by pure, unadulterated shock absorption for the wide-footed runner.

What is the PG 7 v3? A “Journey” Through the Peak
Marketing for the PG 7 v3 in China focuses on it being a breakthrough in shock absorption. Anta’s internal testing claims the Peak Gravity 7.6 technology is engineered to keep impact forces under a specific threshold, prioritizing joint protection.
Peak Gravity is a metric that measures effectiveness of a shoe’s cushioning technology in absorbing impact forces. A lower score implies better shock absorption characteristics.
Interestingly, Anta also markets this as a shoe that runners can use for daily communting. This is a rare moment of brand honesty as they aren’t promising PRs but rather a lightweight evolution in all-day comfort.
Initial Review
The Ride: Dampened, Not Bouncy
During our initial 5km test at paces ranging from 6:00/km to 5:30/km, the experience was markedly different from what I have been testing so far. Where the standard Kiprun Kipride (using FastTech) offers a snappy response, the PG 7 v3 provides a plush and dampened feel.

The Peak Gravity foam absorbs the energy of your strike but doesn’t necessarily snap back to push you into the next stride. It is a ride that requires you to take the next step by your own accord. For recovery days when your legs feel like cast iroin, a dampened midsole that protects your legs without the aggressive feedback of a PEBA-based midsole. Thus, providing you the ability to train safely for longer and hopefully a better recovery.
The Details: Open-Cell Comfort
A standout technical detail is the 5mm insole. Unlike the standard closed-cell EVA found in budget trainers, Anta has used an open-cell high-rebound foam.

This is a strategic move for tropical runners; open-cell foam provides superior moisture-wicking and breathability. Thereby ensuring that despite the massive sofa cushioning, your feet don’t overheat during a humid Singapore morning. At the same time, I believe the open-cell insole does provide a more cushion step in feel.
Running Experience: Wide-Foot Heaven
The immediate out-of-the-box comfort is a 10/10. For those with a wider foot width, the PG 7 v3 is incredibly accommodating. The 11.5cm forefoot width which then allows for total toe splay, something that wide feet runners will truly appreciate.

However, at 5:30/km, a limitation emerged. I felt a slightly loose sensation in terms of lockdown. This is likely down to the sheer volume of the upper combined with a non-gusseted tongue. If you are planning on anything faster than recovery miles, you will likely need to utilize the extra eyelet for a Heel Lock lacing technique to secure the foot. That said, this is not a pair you will take it for your harder faster workouts, it is meant to keep runners going during days when the extra comfort is a luxury.
The Competitive Landscape: The S$129 Strategy
ANTA PG 7 v3 which we have bought is around the S$75 mark, however, in the Singapore market, the older version typically retails for about $100 – $110. From our current understanding of the market, we found a few alternative At the S$129 price point, these brands are offering alternatives for you to consider. Other big brands often only hit this price point through clearance sales and in Nike’s product, there is nothing that comes close at this price point.
| Competitor | Retail Price (SGD) | The Vibe Comparison |
| Anta PG 7 v3 | ~$75 (In-Store) | The Sofa with maximum dampening and width. |
| Kiprun Kipride Max | S$129 | Softech+ Midsole. Much softer and more energetic than standard FastTech. |
| Xtep Airflow 2.0 | S$129 | Focused on ACE Tech bounce; good cushioning but not as soft. |
| Adidas Supernova Ease 2 | S$129 | The Western alternative option, Dreamstrike foam but a narrower last. |
The Verdict: Honesty Wins
Verdict in 60 Seconds
- The Fit: Wide-foot heaven. The 11.5cm forefoot width allows for total toe splay, accommodating runners who find legacy narrow lasts restrictive.
- The Ride: Dampened and protective. The PG 7 v3 prioritizes shock absorption over energy return, offering a “sofa-like” feel that saves the legs during recovery miles.
- The Value: At S$75–S$110 (market dependent), it offers approximately 80% of the performance of a premium cruiser at 40% of the cost.
- Who it’s for: The commuter and the recovery-day runner. It excels at paces between 5:45/km and 7:00/km or long hours on the feet.
- The One Caveat: Upper lockdown remains a weakness. The high-volume upper and non-gusseted tongue can feel loose when pushing paces faster than 5:30/km.
In an industry often fueled by over-promising, Anta deserves credit for honesty. The brand positioned the PG 7 v3 as a commuter and daily tool, and it meets those expectations perfectly. It is a stable, protective sofa that can support you during long walks just as easily as it handles a 10km recovery run.
It delivers on its core promise: maximum joint protection at a price point that is frankly unrivaled. If you want a do-it-all speedster, look elsewhere. but if you want a reliable companion that prioritizes your comfort and wide-foot needs, Anta has hit the mark.
This is only our initial impression of the ANTA PG 7 v3, we will continue to use it for different runs to further validate our thoughts. At the same time, the durability of a running shoes cannot be missed. After all durability is a big part Till next time, just keep running.
