The Nike Vomero series has not garnered as much attention in the market as the other Nike running products in recent time. Once the long run and higher stack product in Nike’s line-up, it has since been replaced by other products. However, it continued to stay in Nike’s portfolio. The most recent version saw the replacement of the Air Zoom Unit to a layer of ZoomX foam.

This year, Nike is set to give the Vomero its big overhaul. The new Vomero 18 will feature a combination of ZoomX and ReactX midsole foams. The ZoomX will be the main layer while ReactX foam is placed in the forefoot and heel area. It aims to deliver more cushion for ultimate comfort and for runners to go farther. The Vomero 18 will also feature a new design for its outsole as well as an increased rocker geometry.
This comes after Nike announced its Simplified Road Running Footwear Lineup last year. In it, the Vomero takes one of the three categories – ” maximum cushioning”. Nike will be launching its Plus and Premium version later this year for the Vomero series. Similar to what we see in the Pegasus line up.

What do we think?
The new design and focus on the Vomero provide Nike the opportunity to bring Nike back into the marketplace. The simplified manner in which runners can look at Nike’s line-up is certainly refreshing. However, we do wonder how does the Plus and Premium for the Vomero will be.
Today, for runners looking for max comfort and cushion, the options (e.g., Novablast 5, Adistar 3, or even the Ride 17) are plentiful. Nike thus need to make sure that the Vomero can capture the attention of runners. Price point has not been the strongest for the Vomero series. However, with the new way of structuring its product line up, we do wonder if the price point will lower for the Vomero series (we doubt so).

The Vomero 18 is set to launch 27th February 2025 at nike.com as well as select retailers. What do you think? Are you excited to see what the Vomero 18 brings?
Till next time, just keep running.
