The Magic Speed is getting an all new update taking a playbook from ASICS’s premium racer – Metaspeed Sky/Edge Paris. ASICS has continue to push the boundaries of what its mid of the pack racer can do. The Magic Speed series has been evolving across the 4 iterations, you will not find too many similarities between each. In this post, let us dive into what are some of the new features coming for the Magic Speed 3. What magic will it bring this time? Will it still be that snappy speed trainer?

We have reviewed the Magic Speed 3 previously and love the updates it has gotten from Magic Speed 2. Click on the post below to read our full review of the ASICS Magic Speed 3.

Magic Speed 4 Updates & Changes

These information are made possible by the video by The Running Warehouse, link down below to their video. Release date is expected to be July 5th 2024.

Key Updates

  1. Midsole is still FF Blast+ but with FF Turbo in the mid and forefoot.
  2. Weight comes in at 241 grams or 8.5 oz for a Men’s US 9. This is heavier than the previous version but it isn’t that crazy given the updates that the Magic Speed 4 has.
  3. Thicker midsole stack in the Magic Speed 4 compared to previous iteration. 43.5mm in the heel with 35.5mm at the forefoot (7/8 mm drop)
  4. This implies that the amount of foam under the plate has now increased. The Magic Speed 3 has a lot more ground feel as the bottom layer of the foam is much thinner.
  5. The base of the Magic Speed 4 is expected to be slightly wider as well to help with the stability with the higher stack.
  6. The outsole has a new pattern which runs parallel with ASICSGRIP outsole.
  7. The upper for the Magic Speed 4 is now an engineered mesh upper instead of the MOTION WRAP of the Magic Speed 3.

We are excited for this update and cannot wait to get our hands on it. With these updates, it does seems that the Magic Speed continues to bring magic to running. More interestingly, how will this stack up to its key competitors – the Puma Deviate Nitro as well as Saucony Endorphin Speed? Till then, just keep running.
